Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight has all the ingredients to be one of the biggest matches at this year’s WWE Money in the Bank. With the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, WWE has several ways to end this highly anticipated showdown, and not all of them require a clean finish.
The match was officially made after LA Knight attacked Roman Reigns following Reigns’ successful World Heavyweight Championship defense against Penta on the September 14 episode of RAW in Mexico City. Knight hit the champ with a BFT, making it clear that he was coming after the title.
Thanks for the submission!
Since then, the story has become even more interesting because of the growing threat of 946 and its attacks on members of The Bloodline. With Money in the Bank approaching, here are four possible finishes WWE could use for Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight.
#4. LA Knight might win the World Heavyweight Championship
The most straightforward finish is also one of the biggest moments of LA Knight’s WWE career.
Roman Reigns has established himself as one of WWE’s most dominant Superstars, while Knight has spent years building himself into one of the company’s most popular in-ring performers. A victory over The Bloodline spearhead at Money in the Bank would immediately elevate The Megastar to another level.
The match could see The OTC dominate for much of the contest before Knight survives a Superman Punch and possibly even a Spear. Reigns could then attempt one final Spear, only for Knight to counter and hit the BFT. It would be a huge feel-good moment for this year’s Money in the Bank and the WWE Universe.
#3. Roman Reigns could retain after surviving LA Knight’s BFT
WWE could also decide that it is simply too early for Roman Reigns to lose the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank. In this scenario, LA Knight comes extremely close to winning. He could even hit The OTC with his BFT finisher, but the champ somehow kicks out.
Knight tries to follow up with another BFT, but Reigns catches him and delivers a Superman Punch. Knight gets back up, only for Reigns to hit the Spear and score the three-count.
This would protect Knight because he would come within inches of becoming champion while allowing Reigns to continue his title reign. It could also set up a rematch down the line, especially since WWE wants to make Knight’s eventual championship victory even bigger.
Reigns has already shown that he can survive major challenges. His recent title defense against Penta on WWE RAW in Mexico City was followed by Knight confronting him and delivering the BFT.
#2. 946 could interfere and cost Roman Reigns the title at Money in the Bank
This may be the most intriguing option. 946 has already caused major problems for The Bloodline. The group abducted Solo Sikoa, and its attacks have become increasingly personal. WWE’s current storyline has even raised questions about whether 946’s ultimate target could be Roman Reigns. That makes Money in the Bank the perfect place for the faction to make its biggest statement yet.
Imagine Reigns finally setting up LA Knight for the Spear. Suddenly, members of 946 appear at ringside. Reigns turns his attention toward them, only to get attacked from behind. The Megastar could initially look confused before realizing what is happening.
946 then takes out Reigns, allowing Knight to hit the BFT and score the victory. The finish would accomplish several things at once. LA Knight became the World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns gets a new enemy, and 946 immediately establishes itself as a major threat.
#1. The possibility of LA Knight winning, but a major twist changes everything
The wild card option would be for LA Knight to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year’s Money in the Bank while revealing that something much bigger is happening.
There has already been speculation about Knight potentially having some connection to 946. Bully Ray recently discussed the idea of Knight being associated with the heel faction and even suggested a scenario where Knight could defeat Reigns with their assistance.
WWE, however, reportedly has no current plans to turn Knight heel, meaning this should be viewed strictly as a possible storyline rather than an indication of what the Stamford-based promotion will actually do.
Still, imagine Knight defeating Reigns cleanly, celebrating with the World Heavyweight Championship, and then 946 appearing on the stage. Instead of attacking Knight, they simply acknowledge him. That would leave fans wondering whether Knight knew more about the group than he had admitted.
Alternatively, 946 could attack both men after the match, allowing Knight to remain a babyface while immediately giving him a dangerous new group of enemies.
