Sashi announced on Monday the surprise additions of Australian duo Tynan “TjP” Purtell and Jordan “Hatz” Bajic to their roster as they look to maximize their chances of qualifying for the Singapore Major ahead of the November 2 invite cut-off.
The pair’s arrival will see Sashi switch regions from Europe to Asia, as the Danish organization says Anton “Anlelele” Huynh has Vietnamese citizenship.

The move is expected to be temporary, with Sashi saying that Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen and Casper “Cabbi” Jensen “will be stepping out of the starting lineup for the coming month.” Still, both players took to X to say they’re unsure what the future holds.
It’s not the first time that a team has swapped regions in the final stages of a Major race. Earlier this year, G2 and Liquid swapped Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa and Guy “NertZ” Iluz, allowing the latter team to return to an Americas core before the cut-off for the Cologne Major.
Last week, BC.Game entered Asia’s qualification zone for the Singapore Major right after signing Tyson “asap” Paterson. And WW recently made headlines by signing Ermek “enzero” Kartanbaev and having Ivan “StRoGo” Shurpatov switch his nationality to Tajikistan.

In Sashi’s case, though, the move’s temporary nature has fueled a far greater backlash from the community, with Falcons star Nikola “NiKo” Kovač among those who called on Valve to address the matter and prevent teams from abusing the system.

Whether Sashi knew it or not, the double swap might not move the needle much on their chances. Finn “Mischief” Farrer’s latest projection put their qualification chances at just 13% based on their LAN calendar. (The Danish team appears to have since signed up for DraculaN Season 7.)
