A lightsaber used in the Cloud City duel scene that saw Darth Vader say “I am your father” is up for auction, and could potentially sell for $1 million.
Heritage Auctions’ “Ultimate Star Wars Auction” takes place on November 12. Over 25 lightsaber props will be on sale at the auction, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker’s Revenge of the Sith props.
They are expected to sell for at least $10,000 apiece. However, it is a lightsaber belonging to the series’ original antagonist, Darth Vader, that is expected to rake in the big bucks at the auction.
Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber went for $3.75 million in July
The lightsaber in question, also seen in Return of the Jedi, was used by Darth Vader during the iconic Cloud City duel that ended Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The scene also features the iconic line “I am your father.”
It is expected to fetch at least $1 million.
In July, a lightsaber from the same scene fetched $3.75 million, the highest price ever seen for a prop used in a Star Wars film. It belonged to Luke Skywalker, along with the severed hand attached to it.
Also on sale at the auction is Boba Fett’s EE-3 carbine blaster gun used throughout The Empire Strikes Back, which is expected to bring in over $100,000, along with a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz, a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels’ personal third-draft copy of the screenplay for the original 1977 film, complete with his signature.
