Brendan Allen is hoping to finally settle his grudge with Dricus du Plessis.
Allen moved one step closer towards getting that matchup this past Saturday. Allen took center stage for the UFC Vegas 122 headliner at the Meta Apex. “All In” became the first man to finish Christian Leroy Duncan in pro MMA competition, and he did so with a rear-naked choke submission. Allen appears to be in prime form having won his last four bouts, and he thinks his next fight should be a no brainer.
Speaking to reporters following UFC Vegas 122, Allen said the du Plessis fight should be top priority. If Allen still can’t get the fight, he’s confident in the UFC matchmakers (via MMAJunkie.com).
“Yeah, if he drops his nuts,” Allen said. “It’s all talk from his side all the time. I’ve been waiting to sign the contract. I see everyone just talking sh*t, ‘Oh, I’m just calling out DDP.’ He’s the only one that makes sense, number one. Two, we’ve had our differences, and three, we were supposed to agree to fight before, so it’s not like it’s unreasonable. Everyone is asking about him, and I’m just answering questions. I’m not chasing that motherf*cker. If we fight, we fight. If not, we’ll figure something else out. I know Hunter will have a plan for me, and we’ll see what it is. Hopefully after tonight, we have some options on the table to where I can sit and wait for something bigger if need be.”
Allen is placed at No. 5 on the Meta UFC rankings panel, and he’s one spot above that in the media rankings. Should he get the du Plessis fight and pull off the win, “All In” would move closer to realizing his ultimate goal of becoming the UFC middleweight champion. It might be boom or bust for Allen in 2027, and he’s confident that he will eventually cash in on the top prize in MMA.
