The Los Angeles Rams looked to have Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills won after forcing a fumble on James Cook on the opening drive of overtime. But then, their hopes vanished in an instant, sending fans into a meltdown.
With 4:16 left and the game tied at 34 apiece, Harrison Mevis, who had already missed a 50-yard field goal wide left in the first half, was sent to the field to drill a routine walk-off 48-yarder. What followed was disaster, as Greg Rousseau blocked the kick:

A gassed Rams defense then failed to stop Josh Allen from putting the Bills in field goal range with two explosive runs. Moments later, Tyler Bass connected on the actual game-winner:

Much blame fell on Mevis, with many fans calling for his replacement:
“He should hit up Jenny Craig and never touch a football field again,” one raged.
“Please cut him immediately,” another demanded.
“He should never step foot on a gridiron ever again,” one insisted.
“You gotta cut Mevis immediately after this game; this is pathetic,” one urged.
“I WANT HARRISON MEVIS CUT IMMEDIATELY!!!” another yelled.
“Bills win. Mevis needs to be cut on the sideline, immediately,” another groaned.
The loss spoiled a perfect outing from Matthew Stafford, who completed 40 of his 54 attempts for 383 yards and three touchdowns – one to Puka Nacua and two to Davante Adams. Running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum rushed for a touchdown each as well.
Allen had a mediocre outing on the air, going just 12-of-19 for 210 yards and a touchdown to Keon Coleman against an interception to Jaylen Watson. However, he was also the Bills’ leading rusher, amassing 121 yards and a score on just 10 carries. Cook complemented him with 111 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

Rams HC Sean McVay looking to reevaluate kicking game after Harrison Mevis’ struggles vs. Bills
After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the media. When asked what the ramifications of Harrison Mevis’ struggles were, he was blunt:
“In the kicking game, especially our PAT/field goal, not even close to good enough. It cost us the game tonight. … Yeah, I’m going to evaluate everything.”
The Rams’ next game is against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:05 p.m. PT on Fox.
