Very few fighters headline their very first night on the global stage. A 15-0 Dagestani will do exactly that, backed by a family that has supported him from the very start.
Magomed Magomedov makes his ONE Championship debut against Lucas Gabriel in the lightweight MMA main event of ONE Fight Night 49 on Prime Video at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The event airs in U.S. primetime.
Magomedov represents KHK Dagestan and has never lost as a professional. He began training at 16 after watching the film Fight Without Rules and later earned the title of Master of Sport while studying Economics at university.
The undefeated fighter comes from an ordinary family, with a father who works as an electrician and a younger sister. He also lost an older brother in 2019, which he described as the most difficult period of his life.
His parents have stood behind his career throughout. That support remains central to who he is.
“I grew up in Dagestan in an ordinary family. My father works as an electrician. I have a younger sister, and I had an older brother who sadly passed away in 2019. My parents have always supported me and my sporting career. Their support means a lot to me,” Magomedov said.

Gabriel, 26, trains at Phuket Fight Club and holds an 11-1 career record with a perfect 5-0 mark in ONE. Facing a Brazilian of that caliber in a main-event debut represents a major test of Magomedov’s readiness for the top level.
The Dagestani has built his career with complete focus on the sport. He credits his father for making that possible from his earliest days in MMA.
“I have never worked in another field. When I started training in MMA, my father wanted me to focus entirely on sports and training rather than get distracted by work,” Magomedov said.
