Jake Paul’s Christmas Eve opponent is no longer a mystery.
Most Valuable Promotions announced that former two-time Glory welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe will share the boxing ring with Paul in Dubai. In addition to his kickboxing resume, Doumbe is also a member of the PFL roster, but he hasn’t competed in MMA since 2024. Doumbe has just one professional boxing match, which took place back in 2015.
In a press release, Paul fired a shot at Doumbe for calling him out, and he said it’s time for the kickboxing veteran to sink or swim under the sweet science.
“Cedric ‘Douchebag’ was calling me out two years ago after knocking some dude out in 9 seconds,” Paul said. “Well, ‘Douchebag,’ now you get your chance. I’m rusty, my jaw is janky and I don’t have kickboxing world titles like you do. But guess what? This isn’t kickboxing, mon ami. This is boxing. … To the proud people of France, excuse moi for what I am about to do, but your son has been naughty and he’s going to get punished.”
Doumbe isn’t backing down, and he promises to pick up where Anthony Joshua left off.
“Jake Paul calls himself the ‘Problem Child,’ but he’s never faced a problem like me,” Doumbe said. “He has no idea what a Frenchman is capable of … Jake loves to talk, and so do I, but after what Joshua did to his jaw, I’m not sure how much talking he has left. I’m going to finish the job Joshua started.”
Paul is attempting to come back from a brutal knockout loss to Joshua, which took place back in late 2025. “The Problem Child” suffered a broken jaw and many wondered if that marked the end of his boxing career. Paul is looking to prove that he won’t be gun-shy after being stopped for the first time in devastating fashion.
What do you make of Jake Paul boxing Cedric Doumbe on Christmas Eve? Will this be a successful return for Paul, or will Doumbe hand “The Problem Child” his second straight defeat? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
