Falcons came through a three-map series against FaZe at IEM Beijing, but Finn “karrigan” Andersen was left frustrated by a familiar problem: winning their opponents’ map picks while struggling on their own.
Speaking to HLTV after the victory, he discussed Falcons’ preparation, their difficulties on Anubis and facing former teammate David “frozen” Čerňanský for the first time since leaving FaZe.

Falcons is really strong on Ancient. Did you ever expect FaZe to pick this map against you today?
Yes, we prepared for Ancient pick, and Mirage pick as well. It could be one of these two that they wanted to choose because lately they are punish picking. So we came in with a good game plan. So the question was just which of the maps, and in the end, we hit all the three maps we were really prepared for today.
We can say it was far from an easy victory today. How are you feeling about the game today?
No, obviously, I think it’s so hard that we are winning so many map picks by enemies, but we can’t win our own map pick lately. And I think it’s a little bit frustrating, because Anubis has been a good map when people pick against us, now we picked it, and now it didn’t feel as good today. So for me, it is as long as we grind and we win the games, it doesn’t matter how, because right now we just need to take the small wins we get and transform them into some momentum.
This also marks the first time you faced frozen as an opponent since you’ve joined Falcons. How do you feel about that?
Obviously when you’ve been in organizations that long, it feels strange to look at these guys and play these guys, so it was a fun game to play. I played against previous teammates a lot, so it’s not like… I’ve been in FaZe, then I was back in MOUZ, and then back to FaZe. So it was no new different territory for me. But it was a very fun game, and I think they actually played great today, and they just did some mistakes in crucial moments, and that’s why maybe ran away with it on Mirage.
