Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has offered an update on Jimmy Butler’s eventual return to the team.
Heading into the season, the Golden State Warriors‘ objective was simply to be competitive until Jimmy Butler returns to give them a boost.
Their 0-3 start certainly caused concern, but the team have rallied impressively since. They are now 5-3, heading into their next game against the 3-5 Miami Heat.
There is high reason for optimism, with rookie Yaxel Lendeborg giving the team a significant boost with his on-court production and his lively personality.
Steve Kerr knows that the wait for Jimmy Butler will be a long one, but he is excited about how the veteran will fit into this latest iteration of the team.
Kerr told ESPN: “We just kind of assumed it would be a year or so like most ACL’s and I think he got hurt late January if I’m not mistaken. We’re not even really close to thinking about what it’ll be like to implement him, but it’s exciting to at least envision it.
“Jimmy Butler’s one of the great winners in the game. He he has such an incredible competitive desire and physical strength and emotional dominance in a game. He’s only going to make us better.”
Bill Simmons has accused Lakers star Luka Doncic of being insufferable 👀 What do you make of those comment?
Mid-season boost, again?
Jimmy Butler transformed the Golden State Warriors’ season in 2024-25 when he was traded to the team from the Miami Heat.
The Warriors were 25–24 when they traded for Butler. They then went 23–10 in the final 33 games with Butler to finish 48–34.
A similar impact would be a huge ask, considering the serious injury Butler is returning from – but as Kerr states, it’s impossible not to be excited about his potential impact.
