The penultimate day of Stake Ranked Episode 2 ended with FaZe staying alive in the lower bracket after defeating Sharks in a two-map series (Ancient 13-9, Mirage 13-8).
Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski was the star of the show for the European combine, putting up a 1.61 rating across the series with two outstanding maps.
The tournament favorites, who dropped to the lower bracket after a loss to magic, have now secured a top-three placing in Barcelona at a minimum.
Their next test will come against Ninjas in Pyjamas, who got obliterated by magic in the upper bracket final.
Earlier in the day, Alliance and 9z suffered early elimination in their respective losses against Sharks and FaZe.
Friday’s results mean that only two more matches are set to be played to decide the victor, with Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe set to contest the consolidation final before the winner of that clash faces magic for the trophy and the $25,000 grand prize.
