A veteran of the pro wrestling business, The Great Kasaki, recently passed away at the age of 48.

The Great Kasaki, whose real name was Anthony Fujimura, was a major figure in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) independent wrestling scene. A Canadian by birth, he got into the business back in 2005. Over the years, he cultivated a sizeable fanbase with his charm and talent in the ring. He passed away just hours ago, with the sad developement being mentioned by ASW Canada’s social media handle.

The post on X praised Kasaki for his talent and mentorship, stating:

“ASW is profoundly disheartened to inform our fans that we have lost an ASW legend this week, The Great Kasaki. Sometimes The Weight on one’s shoulders cannot be understood. Anthony’s sense of humor, creativity, passion and mentorship skills will not be replicated. Let us look back and enjoy the greatness that was The Great Kasaki here. We send our most heartfelt wishes to Anthony’s Family and Friends – we will not forget you, our friend #TheGreatKasaki”

The post included a slideshow of various moments from Kasaki’s career. He last wrestled in October 2023 at Thrash Wrestling Taking The Fall, where he was defeated by Davey Deals.

Former WWE Tag Team The Bollywood Boyz spoke about The Great Kasaki’s demise

Anthony Fujimura’s passing away is a sad event in the pro wrestling business, and has affected several active stars including the Bollywood Boyz.

Taking to X, the former WWE Tag Team expressed their condolences while providing cautionary advice about mental health. They also mentioned how they had shared the ring with the legend about 2 decades ago. They wrote:

“Sad news out of the British Columbia wrestling scene. RIP Great Kasaki – glad we got to share the ring nearly 20 years ago, very early in our careers. Mental health is a real thing. Please reach out. It’s never too late.”
