Andre Agassi has provided a much-needed injection of brutal honesty ever since he joined TNT Sports to conclude their Roland Garros coverage.

After all, as one of the sport’s most well-respected and decorated individuals, it’s no surprise that his word remains revered.

However, perhaps because of his stature and confidence, the American has also trodden some ground that other pundits might have feared.

Agassi criticised Jannik Sinner for his physical collapse where others sympathised, and the 56-year-old has now taken issue with one decision Jakub Mensik made right before his Roland Garros semi-final as well.

Andre Agassi slams Jakub Mensik for strange decision

Speaking to TNT Sports, he ironically questioned the mentality of the Czech player after he had reportedly brought in a mental coach for his clash with Alexander Zverev.

Andre Agassi argued: “I’m not a big fan of bringing in a mental coach in the semifinals of the slam.

“You’re supposed to bring in your mom at that stage. You know, like, “Come on, Mom, come watch me play the semis, but bringing in a mental coach, I don’t know, it seems like there’s only downside for that mental coach.”

This sentiment was echoed by Sam Querrey, who added: “Yeah, I mean, you want to talk about his mentality, second-round match, he was basically wheeled off the court, basically. He came back from a set down to where he lost 6-0 to De Minaur.

“He’s been pretty much flawless when it comes to the mentality and overcoming obstacles this entire week.

“And I’m with Andre there. Why change things up at this point?”

Alexander Zverev praises Jakub Mensik after their semi-final match

Chatting whilst still on-court, immediately after his win, Zverev had nothing but praise for Mensik and the mesmeric run he has enjoyed over the past two weeks.

He claimed: “It was amazing the way he played these last two weeks. He beat so many unbelievable players, and I knew it was going to be the toughest challenge that I had so far, and I managed it, I won, I’m happy.”

How impressed have you been by Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros?

He’s into another French Open final…

Despite racing into a two-set lead, the 20-year-old roared back in the third following a medical time-out to apply some pressure.

However, Zverev swiftly quelled that by comprehensively closing out the fourth set and the match.

He referenced this mini fightback too, adding: “He started playing amazing. In the third set, he really stepped up another level, but this is a Grand Slam. This is best-of-five-set matches. You know things are going to happen.

“Opponents are going to play better. You have to deal with it. You have to manage it. I did, and I hope to play another great match on Sunday.”
