Yesterday was a good day for Ferrari and especially Lewis Hamilton, as the seven-time world champion finished the afternoon free practice session fastest.
That was ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc, who had pipped Hamilton in the morning’s FP1.
George Russell recovered in FP2 to finish ahead of his Mercedes teammate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli, while Max Verstappen had the pace to suggest he will be a contender around Monte Carlo this weekend.
The Red Bull mechanics deserved special praise too — repairing Isack Hadjar’s RB22 from this smash late in FP1, to get the Frenchman back on track early in FP2. Hadjar rewarded his team too, finishing sixth fastest.
However, the day was even tougher for world champion Lando Norris, whose mechanical failure left him with just eight laps of running in FP2 and plenty of catching up to do for McLaren in FP3 today.
