Nintendo has finally confirmed that Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave will launch on September 17, 2026, giving Switch 2 owners a release date for the next mainline entry in the long-running strategy RPG series.
The game returned during the June 9 Nintendo Direct with an extended gameplay showcase that offered fans a closer look at its tactical combat, characters, and world. Originally revealed during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Fortune’s Weave is shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s biggest first-party releases of 2026.
The new footage highlighted larger battlefields, updated combat animations, and the series’ signature grid-based strategy gameplay running on Switch 2 hardware. Players also got another glimpse at the game’s cast of heroes as they battle through a continent-wide conflict shaped by the mysterious Heroic Games.
Players can expect more detailed battlefields, improved battle animations, alongside the series’ traditional mix of permadeath and support bonds.
Nintendo described Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave as an “intertwining story” set in a world defined by the Heroic Games, a gladiatorial-style tournament where warriors battle for the chance to claim a wish from the Divine Sovereign.
