God Of War Laufey Fan Spots Interesting Environmental Detail That Ties Into Lore

God of War Laufey appears to have removed the interaction markers that were all over the Norse games, which actually makes a lot of sense within the series’ canon.

Even though it really hasn’t been that long since the last big God of War game, last week’s showstopping reveal of God of War Laufey, a brand-new game that focuses on Kratos’ wife Faye in the afterlife of the gods, was still a huge moment for fans. The reveal trailer gave us just enough footage to get excited, while also leaving plenty of mysteries for fans to speculate on.

Since the reveal of God of War Laufey, fans have been poring over the lengthy reveal trailer and trying to figure out as much about the game as possible, from Faye’s mysterious new weapon to the identity of the divisive Phranque and Rue. While we wait for answers to those mysteries, one eagle-eyed fan has spotted a very interesting detail about the environment that ties into the Norse games.

God Of War Laufey Has Seemingly Removed Environmental Markers, And It Fits The Lore

Faye Can Hardly Leave Herself Hints

Over on the God of War subreddit, Redditor JaxTheNukaEXE pointed out that the gameplay footage of God of War Laufey is completely missing the interaction markers that were littered throughout the environment in the Norse games. God of War’s equivalent of yellow paint is nowhere to be seen in the opening section of Laufey, leaving Faye to figure out where to climb herself.

Although you could just call this a response to the criticisms that those games got for leading players too much, JaxTheNukaEXE pointed out that this actually makes a lot of sense within the canon of God of War. In the Norse games, the interaction markers are said to be left by Faye (and perhaps other giants) to help guide Kratos and Atreus through their journey.

Considering this is Faye’s first time in the Everywen, and she’s usually the one leaving these hints to help others, it makes a lot of sense that they’re suddenly nowhere to be seen in Laufey. Of course, on a gameplay level, it’s explained away by Faye being able to jump whenever she wants, but it’s nice that it also ties into God of War canon.
