Sand: Raiders of Sophie is a PvPvE extraction game akin to Sea of Thieves. However, instead of pirate ships, players are driving massive mechs called Tramplers across a hostile desert. Throughout your exploration, you’ll encounter a variety of loot ranging from weapons, armor, ammo, parts for your mech, and various crafting materials.
Two of these materials are Thread and Fabric Scraps, which are needed to unlock various Trampler pieces in the Dmytro Melnyk skill tree. Here is where to find these materials so you can start improving your mech and become the hunter instead of the prey.
Where To Find Thread
Similar to other crafting and upgrade materials in Sand: Raiders of Sophie, you can only find Thread in a specific type of container. At the time of writing, Thread is located in either a Food Crate, Rare Food Crate, or Very Rare Food Crate. All of which have a very high chance of having around 15–30 Thread when it is looted.
There is no other way to get Thread right now, so don’t expect to be able to buy it or find it in other lootable containers such as Medical Cabinets or Valuable Safes. The crates you are looking for will be clearly marked with a white cow icon painted on top, so keep an eye out for that when you are looting a shipwreck or town.
Speaking of, the best places to find Food Crates are forts, named towns, or in the cargo hold of ships. For forts, you will need to either bring a timed explosive or use a cannon on your Trampler to blow apart the large red doors that are locked off. Once inside, you can search the inner courtyard and climb onto the walls. Both spots often have a lot of loot, and I’ve stumbled across quite a few Rare and Very Rate Food Crates in these locations.
The named towns are a little more hit or miss when it comes to consistently finding Food Crates. This is largely due to the size of these points of interest and how scattered a lot of the lootable containers are. You can absolutely find Food Crates here, just be mindful that these locations are heavily guarded by both Ironclads and the zombie-like enemies that roam the streets.
Finally, you’ll want to keep a lookout for any ship that has a big red door on its deck. Similar to fort doors, these can be blown open and typically contain around 5–6 lootable crates. Food Crates aren’t guaranteed, but these areas are so quick to loot it’s almost always worth a quick stop to check!
Sand: Raiders Of Sophie: Complete Extraction Guide
Here is everything you need to know about successfully extracting in Sand: Raiders of Sophie.
Where To Find Fabric Scraps
Unsurprisingly, the Fabric Scraps follow the same rule as Thread and currently only appear in a specific type of crate. Those are Crate of Shells, Rare Crate of Shells, and Very Rare Crate of Shells. All of these have a chance to spawn Fabric Scraps, however, the Very Rare Crate of Shells has a better chance of spawning actual Fabric instead of Fabric Scraps.
To find these crates, you will want to check the usual looting locations such as forts, towns, and shipwrecks. Where things differ from Thread, is that the normal shipwrecks are usually a great source for Thread, as they almost always seem to contain either a Crate of Shells or a Weapon Crate (sometimes both!) for you to loot.
These are usually only guarded by around two enemies, and you can easily hit several shipwrecks in the span of a few minutes. If you require Fabric Scraps for your upgrade paths, I strongly recommend stopping all the different ships and giving them a quick run-through. You can easily fill up on Fabric Scraps without even setting foot in some of the more dangerous, higher-traffic areas.
