Carlos Alcaraz has been out of action on the ATP Tour since mid-April with a wrist injury.

The Spaniard, who completed the Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open earlier this year, last appeared at the Barcelona Open, where he was forced to withdraw from his second-round match.

Alcaraz’s setback has meant he has had to withdraw from both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Having won the title in Paris last year before finishing as the runner-up in London, he has dropped 3300 ATP points that he was set to defend at both tournaments.

But Alcaraz may not have to worry about losing ranking points for too much longer, as it appears the 23-year-old has just revealed some very positive progress in his recovery.

Carlos Alcaraz posts video of himself hitting with right hand

In a post on Instagram, Alcaraz shared a video of himself lightly hitting balls with the racket in his right playing hand again.

Since picking up the injury over two months ago, Alcaraz had steered clear of practicing with his playing hand.

The new video shows the seven-time Grand Slam champion hitting forehands and backhands at a relaxed pace so he can regain his feel for the ball.

Alcaraz has not yet announced a date for his return to ATP Tour-level action.

Prior to the injury, Alcaraz had captured two titles in 2026, having won the Australian Open as well as the Qatar Open.

Jannik Sinner must take advantage of the opportunity at Wimbledon

While there is no confirmed date for Alcaraz’s return, the positive update suggests a comeback before the US Open could be on the cards.

It means that Wimbledon may mark the last major in Alcaraz’s absence for his rival, Jannik Sinner, to add to his Grand Slam tally.

Sinner enters Wimbledon as the heavy favourite, despite his early exit at Roland Garros.

His run to a second consecutive title won’t be entirely plain sailing, however, with Novak Djokovic in his half of the draw.

Djokovic, who defeated Sinner at the Australian Open, will also want to take advantage of Alcaraz’s withdrawal as he continues his pursuit of a 25th major title.
