Novak Djokovic gets his 21st Wimbledon campaign underway today on Centre Court.

The Serb has not appeared on the ATP Tour since his third-round exit at Roland Garros, where he fell to 19-year-old Joao Fonseca in a five-set thriller.

Djokovic is bidding to claim a 25th Grand Slam title, as well as an eighth Wimbledon crown, a tally that would equal Roger Federer‘s record total in SW19.

The draw was not awfully kind to the 24-time Grand Slam champion, who is on a fourth-round collision course with Roland Garros conqueror Fonseca and will likely face defending champion Jannik Sinner in the semifinals should he get there.

But former British number one Tim Henman thinks if there is any major Djokovic can clinch number 25 at, it’s Wimbledon.

Tim Henman discusses Novak Djokovic ahead of his first match

On the BBC’s coverage, Henman said: “I think given the physicality of Grand Slam tennis and best of five set matches, we’ve seen Djokovic last year, you know, get through to the semifinals and then perhaps slightly run out of gas.

“So, on a grass court, I think the point’s just being that little bit shorter. It still gives him an opportunity to be a serious contender.

“You look at Sacha Zverev, who just won the French Open for his first Grand Slam title. He hasn’t really had the grass court pedigree.

“So, I think it’s almost a similar scenario. That it is kind of Sinner against the rest of the field.”

Former British player Anne Keothavong added: “Djokovic is in the same half as Jannik Sinner, but he did beat him at the Australian Open earlier this year.

“And I don’t think you can ever write Djokovic off. 39 years of age, still inside the world’s top 10. And a contender.

“I mean, he’s spoken about peaking here at Wimbledon. He has had to deal with a number of injuries earlier this year, but I wouldn’t put anything past him.”

Novak Djokovic’s results on the ATP Tour so far in 2026

Djokovic has played just four tournaments so far in 2026, the first of which was the Australian Open.

He made the final at Melbourne Park, dethroning Sinner in the semifinals before falling to the Italian’s rival, Carlos Alcaraz.

The 39-year-old’s next campaign came at the Indian Wells Open, where he reached the fourth round, but lost to Jack Draper in a tight three-set bout.

Djokovic’s worst run this year was recorded at the Italian Open; a first-round exit at the hands of Dino Prizmic.

His Roland Garros appearance was short-lived, with Fonseca knocking him out of the tournament.
