The Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers agreed to a blockbuster trade, sending Kawhi Leonard back to a franchise he won 2019 NBA Finals MVP.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, after originally agreeing to the framework of a deal, we now have the official return for Leonard finalized. The Clippers will receive Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick as well as an unprotected first-round pick in 2031 and 2033.

The Clippers will also have the option for a first-round swap in the 2027 NBA Draft and received a second-round pick in 2030 and 2033.

What did the Raptors trade for Kawhi Leonard last time?

The Raptors previously traded for a much younger version of Leonard, as well as Danny Green, in July 2018.

At the time, Toronto’s front office traded DeMar DeRozan as well as Jakob Poeltl and a 2019 first-round pick. The first-round pick ended up at No. 29 overall, which the Spurs used to select Keldon Johnson.

It may seem that the Raptors actually gave up more to get the older Leonard than the first time.

But when they first traded for Leonard, he was on an expiring contract. This time, per ESPN, the two-time NBA Finals MVP intends to sign an extension and is considered likely to retire with the franchise.
