A 34-year-old Houston man has been charged with assault after allegedly driving around in his car, shooting homeless and disabled people in the face with a high-powered water gun and uploading the footage to social media.
Christopher Cayce targeted people walking on sidewalks, standing in medians or lying near the street using a Spyra motorized water gun, marketed as the world’s strongest.
The manufacturer explicitly warns against shooting people in the face or eyes due to the pressure it generates.
In some of the videos posted to his Facebook and YouTube accounts, Cayce allegedly lured victims toward his car by offering them money or food before spraying them as they approached.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Cayce was initially stopped and booked into Harris County Jail for driving without a license plate and having illegal window tint.
He was subsequently charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury related to incidents on June 4, before being released on a cash-free general order bond.
Following his release, Cayce posted follow-up videos claiming he was being “framed” and that the incidents were “just water.”
It is not the first time someone has been arrested for targeting people with a water gun. A 14-year-old was arrested twice in a single week after repeatedly refusing to stop spraying members of the public despite being taken into custody the first time.
