Grigor Dimitrov advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon after beating Matteo Berrettini in a five-set thriller on Saturday.

Last on Centre Court, Dimitrov defeated Berrettini 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, with the clash lasting three hours and 32 minutes.

A year after suffering a devastating pectoral injury at Wimbledon that saw him sidelined for nearly three months, the Bulgarian is back in the round-of-16 and will take on home hope Arthur Fery next.

Who is your favorite ATP player right now?

Dimitrov’s best result in SW19 was a run to the semifinals back in 2014, when he was denied a place in the championship match by Novak Djokovic.

En route to matching his personal record at the All England Club, Dimitrov has just achieved an impressive feat only Djokovic and Jannik Sinner can match.

Grigor Dimitrov through to the fourth round at Wimbledon for fourth year in a row

With his triumph, Dimitrov has now advanced to the fourth round in Wimbledon men’s singles for the fourth consecutive season.

The former ATP Finals winner is one of just three players to have done so, along with defending champion Sinner and Djokovic.

While Sinner managed to clinch a maiden Wimbledon title last year, he was almost on his way out of the tournament when faced with Dimitrov.

Who comes out of the bottom half of the Wimbledon men’s singles draw?

Will there be a new major champion again?

In their fourth-round matchup in 2025, Dimitrov had a commanding two-set lead, and was executing the perfect game plan against the Italian.

But after serving an ace to make it 2-2 in the third, Dimitrov clutched his right pectoral muscle before ultimately retiring from the match.

A wildcard at Wimbledon this year, Dimitrov has impressed so far, beating 15th seed Jakub Mensik and former finalist at the grass-court major, Berrettini.

The results of Grigor Dimitrov’s next opponent at Wimbledon

Dimitrov’s next opponent at Wimbledon, Fery, is the last British player standing in singles at the tournament.

Fery, aged 23, has enjoyed a remarkable run so far in South West London, and will enter the top 100 following the conclusion of the event.

The Briton has beaten Damir Dzumhur, Otto Virtanen and Zizou Bergs to book his place in the fourth round, which is new ground at a major for him.

With the crowd sure to be on Fery’s side, it will be a difficult assignment for Dimitrov, who is actually the lower-ranked player of the two, currently, due to his injury struggles.

Dimitrov and Fery have never faced each other at an ATP Tour-level competition before.
