Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball could join this list of the NBA’s most watchable duos ever

LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards are joining forces in Minnesota next season, with the Timberwolves looking poised to be the most entertaining watch in the NBA.

The flair and sauce of LaMelo. The explosiveness and high-flying Ant. You already know this will be up there with the best two-man punches to watch.

Both players are lights-out from beyond the arc, devastating in transition, and two players you just can’t take your eyes off when they have the ball.

But topping an all-time entertainment list would take some doing. Here’s who we think they would be up against.

A small caveat: It’s not the greatest duos (no Jordan/Pippen here), but the ones who combined to make magic on the offensive end.

Most box-office NBA duos of all-time

Penny Hardaway and Shaquille O’Neal – Orlando Magic

You might have been expecting Kobe Bryant in here with Big Diesel, but his time in Orlando with Penny Hardaway was when we really saw a high-flying shack, and it was terrifying. He carried less weight in his first few seasons, and it probably wasn’t as effective, but it was great to watch.

He was paired with one of the flashiest players in the league in Hardaway. The 6’7 point guard had all the flair and the vision to match. The lobs to Shaq, the pick-and-roll mastery, it was always a joy to watch.

Together they carried the Magic to the 1995 NBA Finals, with Shaq averaging over 28 points a game and Hardaway making First Team All-NBA that same season — proof this was more than just highlight-reel fun.

Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter – Toronto Raptors

Their time together might have been short, but these are two of the most eye-catching players we have seen in the NBA. Tall, fast, athletic, skilful — these two really had it all.

It might not have been the pair’s prime years, but their Toronto highlight reel will show you they had that shock value even back then.

The two are actually cousins, and though McGrady left for Orlando in 2000 after just two full seasons alongside Carter, their tag-team dunks and highlight tapes from that stretch still stand up as some of the most electrifying clips of the era.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors

The Splash Bros had to make this list. The greatest shooting duo of all time, you couldn’t take your eyes off them during the Warriors’ dominant run.

Curry was just a different beast, and Klay had the hottest hand in the NBA. They won four championships together and were the driving force behind arguably the greatest team of all time.

Between them they hold the record for most combined threes by a duo in NBA history, and Klay’s 37-point quarter in 2015 remains one of the most jaw-dropping performances ever.

Chris Paul and Blake Griffin – Los Angeles Clippers

Before this pair linked up, the Clippers were one of the league’s most forgettable franchises. Then “Lob City” arrived, and suddenly they were must-watch television. Paul’s pinpoint passing combined with Griffin’s ferocious finishing above the rim turned every fast break into a highlight waiting to happen.

Griffin had already announced himself by dunking over a car at the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest, and once Paul arrived that same year the duo took the Clippers to the playoffs in six straight seasons, even if a deep postseason run always seemed to slip through their fingers.

For pure above-the-rim spectacle, few pairings in NBA history have ever been quite as electric as Paul and Griffin.
