Felix Auger-Aliassime has parted ways with his coach, Frederic Fontang, after 10 years of working together.

The split comes after the Canadian’s quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon to Novak Djokovic, which was the longest last-eight clash in the tournament’s history.

Where does that match rank among the best of Novak Djokovic’s career?

Auger-Aliassime has tallied a win-loss record of 26-13 on the ATP Tour this season, while also clinching a title in Montpellier.

At Grand Slams, however, the world number four has failed to advance past the quarterfinals.

After splitting with Fontang, Auger-Aliassime took to social media to send a message to his decade-long mentor.

Felix Auger-Aliassime sends message to Frederic Fontang

In a post on Instagram, Auger-Aliassime said: “After nearly ten years of working together, it has recently been decided that Wimbledon would be my last tournament with Frederic by my side as my coach.

“Today, I want to express my deepest respect, gratitude, and admiration for his dedication and the passion he brought every single day to helping me achieve my goals.

“Since I was 16 years old, he has guided my development and helped me experience incredible moments through this sport.

“He has also been by my side during the toughest moments of my career. In those difficult times, I always found in him the calm, composure, and wisdom I needed to overcome those challenges.

“Looking back today, I can say that beyond being an outstanding coach, he has been a true mentor throughout my journey into adulthood.

“Fred, thank you for leading by example throughout all these years together. I wouldn’t be the player I am today without you. I wish you nothing but the very best in your future endeavours.”

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s results at Grand Slams this season

Auger-Aliassime’s Grand Slam season started with a first-round exit at the Australian Open, where he was forced to retire against Nuno Borges due to cramp.

At Roland Garros, Auger-Aliassime recorded his best-ever Paris campaign by reaching the quarterfinals.

He was beaten in the last eight at the French Open by eventual finalist Flavio Cobolli, falling in four sets.

At Wimbledon, Auger-Aliassime earned three straight-set wins in his opening three rounds before coming through a tough five-set bout with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in round four.

Despite going the distance with seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic, he could not outlast the Serb in a fifth-set tiebreak.
