Novak Djokovic is still searching for a 25th Grand Slam singles title.

The Serbian superstar last won a major title at the 2023 US Open, beating Daniil Medvedev in the final.

If Djokovic were to win the US Open later this year, he would overtake Margaret Court and become the most successful singles player in the history of Grand Slam events.

The US Open is right around the corner…

Djokovic can also make history just by reaching the final in New York.

Djokovic is currently tied with three other players for the most US Open final appearances in the history of singles competitions.

Djokovic, Bill Tilden, Serena Williams, and Molla Bjurstedt Mallory have all appeared in 10 US Open finals.

Bjurstedt Mallory has won the most US Open singles titles among those four players: the Norwegian-American tennis player won eight titles between 1915 and 1926.

With Serena Williams unlikely to reach the final in New York this year, Djokovic has a great opportunity to make tennis history and appear in an 11th US Open final.

8 Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, Bill Johnston, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova

The Serbian’s chances of reaching another final in New York have taken a hit following his recent slide down the ATP rankings.

Djokovic has fallen to world number seven and is now at risk of falling outside of the top eight.

If Djokovic were to be seeded outside of the top eight in New York, he would be scheduled to face a top-eight seed in the fourth round, rather than the quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic’s US Open debut

Djokovic first competed in New York in 2005.

The Serb, then 18 years old, emerged victorious on his debut, beating Gael Monfils in a five set thriller: 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, 0-6, 7-5.

Djokovic then upset 22nd seed Mario Ancic, triumphing 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.

Fernando Verdasco, the Spanish star, then defeated Djokovic 6-1, 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Djokovic went on to dominate his rivalry with Verdasco, winning 11 of their 15 matches on the Tour.
