Alexander Zverev recently won his first major title at the French Open.

The German superstar almost won back-to-back majors, but was beaten in the Wimbledon final by Jannik Sinner.

Zverev will now turn his attention towards the US Open, which will take place across late August and early September.

Who do you think is more likely to win another Grand Slam out of Novak Djokovic & Alexander Zverev? 🤔

With a Grand Slam and multiple Masters 1000 titles to his name, Zverev is already one of the greatest players in German tennis history.

However, at this stage, he is certainly not greater than Boris Becker.

Zverev is yet to win the US Open.

His best result occurred at the 2020 event, where he reached the final.

The German looked set to win the title when he led Dominic Thiem by two sets in the New York final.

However, Thiem was not to be denied, roaring back to claim a 2–6, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3, 7–6 victory.

Since then, Zverev has recorded two quarter-final appearances, a semi-final appearance and a third round appearance.

Boris Becker, one of the 1980s and 1990s greatest players, won the US Open title in 1989.

The German star, then 22 years old, defeated Ivan Lendl in the final, 7–6, 1–6, 6–3, 7–6.

Becker made three other semi-final appearances in New York – in 1986, 1990 and 1995 – but did not reach another final.

Remarkably, Becker played his final US Open match in 1995 at the age of 28.

Becker, the fourth seed in New York, was among the favourites for the 1995 US Open title.

The German had been in good form prior to the event, as demonstrated by his run to the Wimbledon final.

Becker proceeded to beat Álex López Morón, Carsten Arriens, Jason Stoltenberg and Marc Rosset en route to the quarter-finals.

He then defeated Patrick McEnroe – brother of John – 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.

Becker’s run came to an end against Andre Agassi.

Agassi defeated Becker 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 before losing the final to Pete Sampras.
