Tim Henman suggests what Arthur Fery’s dream run at Wimbledon has proven about the ATP Tour

The Briton is now ranked 36th following his superb efforts at Wimbledon, which represents his highest ATP ranking ever.

The dust has now settled on the tournament, but former British number one Tim Henman believes the stunning run of Fery is still worth analyzing, and understandably so.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Henman said: “He started the year at 185 in the world, qualified in Melbourne and then has continued to improve his ranking – then getting a wildcard at Wimbledon ranked 114 and winning five matches getting to the semi-finals it was an incredible performance – and I think it also shows the fine margins between these top players.

“If you’re in the top 250 in the world you’re an extremely good player and on your day you’ve got a chance of beating anyone, so huge for him to be 36 in the world now getting to the other Grand Slams and Masters 1000, so he’s got an opportunity to really plan his schedule moving forward.”

In the end, it was world number one Jannik Sinner who lifted the trophy in London, showing his worth as he successfully defended his title.

But having undoubtedly celebrated his superb Wimbledon journey too, Fery now takes on the North American hard-court swing.

Fery’s next tournament will be the Cincinnati Open, which will represent the 24-year-old’s first outing since Wimbledon.

After that, the new British number one will play at the Winston-Salem Open, before turning his focus to the US Open.

And following his heroics at Wimbledon, it should be clear that nobody will want to face Fery in New York, at least in the early stages.

While he won’t have the home support this time around, he will certainly have gained a few followers thanks to his memorable stay at the All England Club, which was ended only by French Open champion Alexander Zverev.
