Jannik Sinner has established himself as one of the top two tennis players in the world over the past few seasons.
Since the start of 2024, Sinner and his rival Carlos Alcaraz have dominated men’s tennis, with the rest of the ATP Tour struggling to compete with them.
The ‘new two’, as they have been dubbed, split all four major titles in 2024 and 2025, and both players have won a Grand Slam in 2026.

While Alcaraz captured his maiden major trophy in 2022, Sinner, a year older than the Spaniard, didn’t clinch his first until 2024.
Sinner took slightly longer to rise to the top of the sport than Alcaraz, and his improvements have largely been a result of coach Darren Cahill’s guidance.

One shot in particular that has come on leaps and bounds in Sinner’s game is his serve, which former Italian player Luca Vanni detailed in an interview with Spazio Tennis.
“Over the past two years, Sinner has improved his serve significantly,” said Vanni. “I trained with him once in Orleans, I think in 2019, when he was about 17.
“In the years since, he’s experimented with different solutions: foot back, standing still, putting his feet together, and different tempos to reach the trophy position.

“His strength has been his ability to bring these changes into matches, willing to compete even with a new technique.
“That’s why you have to work on one priority at a time. One day it might be the rotation of the foot, another the entry of the hip.
“Otherwise, the risk is to immediately attribute every double fault to a technical change.”
Where Jannik Sinner ranks in serve rating on the ATP Tour
Serve rating is a statistic used by the ATP Tour, and is a measurement that takes into account first serve percentage, win percentage on first and second serves, percentage of service games won, average aces per match and average double faults per match.
Atop the rankings in serve rating is American star Reilly Opelka with a total of 304.0.
Just behind him with a serve rating of 302.4 is Sinner, who actually leads Opelka in more categories.
While Opelka tops the tour in average aces per match, Sinner ranks the highest in percentage of first and second serve points won, as well as percentage of service games won.
In order, Ben Shelton, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz make up the rest of the top five in serve rating on the ATP Tour.
