By the time Bryson DeChambeau emerged in Detroit for the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic, he was a changed man. During the COVID-19 pandemic in the previous months, DeChambeau set out to completely remake his body, and the Motor City tournament was the first time his reworked physique dominated the course.
DeChambeau bombed the ball and putted lights out during the event, winning the tourney by three strokes. It marked his sixth career win, and first of the 2020 season. When he won, he established a precedent he would try to replicate over the following years. At the Rocket Mortgage, he was first in driving distance, first in strokes gained off the tee, first in putting, and held the longest driving performance in a win in PGA Tour history.
