Back when Tom Kim took home his first PGA Tour win at the 2022 Wyndham Championship, he was still a relative mystery. All we knew was that 20-year-old Joohyung Kim was nicknamed “Tom” because of his childhood love for Thomas The Tank Engine and that he was a preternaturally gifted golfer. The hype seemed to be overblown, though, as the South Korean-born golfer kicked off his tournament with a quadruple-bogey 8.
71 holes later, though, Kim was a champion; the second youngest since World War II. Only Jordan Spieth had finished first at an earlier age. Kim concluded his impressive victory at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina with a final round 61. He won the tournament by five strokes, announcing his arrival on the PGA Tour emphatically.
