With the help of btrams, who you may know as the man behind BLAST’s on-screen data insights, we looked at whether the perception of 2026 as being a weak year for AWPing was fair.
While they still dominate the Top 20, two snipers being in the top five every year since 2018, the role has taken a hit after its magazine size was reduced and with the peeker’s advantage of CS2. It’s also harder to be a flashy AWPer now that utility is so prevalent, and that MR12 means you may spend a good chunk of the half without your favored gun.
