AEW star Chris Jericho was referenced on WWE SmackDown tonight. Despite being All Elite, he is still remembered in the global sports entertainment juggernaut. The former AEW World Champion has been using the Walls of Jericho for many decades and has made many legends tap out to the vicious move. Recently, on SmackDown, Gunther executed this move to perfection.
The Friday Night show had an interesting opening tonight. Newly crowned Chelsea Green won the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. However, her reign was in jeopardy tonight as she got injured. General Manager Nick Aldis asked her to relinquish her title. But after the Hot Mess’ emotional and passionate promo, Aldis decided not to take away her championship.
Moments later, the Ring General made his way to the ring and confronted Aldis. Chelsea was still in the ring, mocking him. After the Ring General got furious and confronted Green, her husband, Matt Cardona, made it to the ring and told Gunther to stay back. The two then decided to lock horns immediately. Despite putting on a good fight, Cardona couldn’t overcome the former WWE World Champion’s in-ring tactics.
To end the contest, Gunther applied Chris Jericho’s Wall of Jericho. Matt Cardona tapped out, and the medics had to check on him following the contest.
The Career Killer has been chasing another shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. It remains to be seen how long he will have to wait in line, as he couldn’t emerge victorious in a number one contender’s contest at SummerSlam.
On the other hand, Chris Jericho’s plan for All In is still unknown. He lost a TNT Championship match on the recent edition of Dynamite. With All In just a few weeks away, it will be interesting to see how AEW President Tony Khan books him at Wembley Stadium.
