Naturally, the announcement has accumulated headlines in the gaming community, with many buzzing with excitement, waiting to try out the new app.
What should your expectations be from the release of BGMI Lite?
Release Window: Based on the announcement, the BGMI Lite app will be available for Indian mobile gamers soon. The expected release window is late 2026.
Size: As the app’s moniker’s inidicates, the Lite version will be more compact than the main app. It is expected to have an initial download size of 1 GB on Android and 2 GB on iOS.

Pre-registration: For those unaware, pre-registration for Battlegrounds Mobile Lite begins on August 25, 2026. You can head over to your phone’s respective digital storefronts (Google Play Store and Apple App Store) and pre-register for the app. However, note that you must set the auto-install option, which will automatically install the app on your device once it releases later in 2026.

This will help you seamlessly transfer your game ID to the Lite version when it launches. Furthermore, you can expect your pre-owned cosmetics (gunskins, outfits, and vehicle skins) to be transferred to the Lite app for an enhanced Battle Royale gaming experience.
Cross-play: Similar to PUBG Mobile and its LIGHT version, as a BGMI Lite player, you can expect the availability of cross-play. If the option is added, it will help you play with your online friends from BGMI, keeping the squad together, en route to countless ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’.
While the craze for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Lite launch intensifies, you can continue to sharpen your skills on the main app as of now. This will help you get more finishes and earn more victories in the Lite app from Day 1.
