Frances Tiafoe’s journey at the Cincinnati Open came to a dismal conclusion as Arthur Fils ran away with Sunday’s final.

However, the American now has time to reflect on his performance and correct one area of his game that faltered during the final.

Tiafoe’s first-serve statistics in the Cincinnati Open final were shocking to say the least.
The American landed only 39 per cent of his first serves throughout Sunday’s contest – well below the Tour average.
It was simply an abysmal performance on serve, one that Tiafoe will surely look back on with regret.
If Tiafoe wishes to be a true contender for the US Open title, he cannot afford to reproduce Sunday’s serving performance on a regular basis.
Otherwise, he may depart from the New York major earlier than expected.
As for Arthur Fils, he performed well on serve. As per Sofascore, the Frenchman landed 59 per cent of his first serves, winning 71 per cent of those points.
He also won 67 per cent of his second-serve points and fired down 11 aces.

Following his campaign in Cincinnati, Tiafoe has now won the third-most matches of any ATP player this year.
The American has 37 victories to his name, trailing only Alexander Zverev [46] and Jannik Sinner [44].
Tiafoe leads Rafael Jodar and Tommy Paul, both of whom have won 36 matches this year.
