If you’re a low-level crafter in Final Fantasy XIV, you may find yourself in need of Antelope Horn. Whether you want it to upgrade gear, or to make fancy denim pants, it’s an option that’s available to you as a player. It is a bit of a rare drop though, so there’s no telling how long it will take to get the amount you need.
While Antelope Horn is mostly used in low-level gear recipes, Final Fantasy XIV players can also use it to make some pretty high-end, valuable cosmetics. If you’re looking to make some money, or just make a fashion statement, you can find the Antelope Horns from Antelope Stags in the South Shroud region.
Where to farm Antelope Horn in Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV players can farm Antelope Horn in-game, primarily by heading to the South Shroud region. The closest town to the farm locations is Quarrymill, home of the optional dungeon Palace of the Dead. There are a few locations in this region where you can find Antelope Stags, which are the enemies that drop the item. For the best results, I moved between two areas, which you can find on the map below:
- Coordinates 21, 19
- Coordinates 27, 22.1
The Antelope Stags respawn pretty quickly, and show up two at a time in these locations, so you can easily show up and slay them. They are level 28 enemies, so they aren’t terrifyingly powerful. In my experience, after killing around 6-8 of them, I had 3 Antelope Horns, so the drop rate isn’t terrible, but it’s not amazing.
The animals respawn every couple of minutes, so you can just stay in one location if you really want. If you’re low level, watch out for Goblin camps though. If you are having bad luck, or simply don’t want to farm them, you can buy Antelope Horn on the Market Board, typically going for about 1,000 gil a piece.
What can you craft with Antelope Horn in Final Fantasy XIV?
Antelope Horn is a crafting reagent, mostly for low-level, borderline useless items, like Staghorn weapons, and Horn Scale Greaves and Horn Scale Fingers. However, they can be a real source of money, if you’re diligent. There are cosmetic pants you can craft using Antelope Horns, Worn Twill Trousers and Bell-bottom Trousers.
These look like denim pants, and go very well with some of the crafting/gathering tops, as well as some of the gear from Dawntrail. If you’re looking for a more modern look for your character, you can combine the new pants with some of the Neotunics from Dawntrail or the Gold Saucer, and you’ll come out looking flashy.
However, the Worn Twill Trousers patterns require the Master Weaver XII tome, which can be purchased in any of the main three cities, as well as Old Sharlayan, and any Scrip Exchange for 1,200 Purple Scrips. The requirement to unlock them varies, depending on the merchant though.
The easiest vendor is Rowena’s Representative in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (9.1, 11.1), which requires the Just Tooling Around and The Ultimate Weapon quests.
The Ultimate Weapon is one of the A Realm Reborn Main Scenario quests, so the odds are decent you’ve already completed that if you’re trying to craft some fancy pants with Antelope Horn in Final Fantasy XIV. Below is a complete list of what you can make with this reagent:

- Iron Spatha (Blacksmith Recipe Level 25)
- Horn Scale Greaves (Armorer Recipe Level 37)
- Horn Scale Fingers (Armorer Recipe Level 38)
- Staghorn Staff (Goldsmith Recipe Level 19)
- Wind Brand (Goldsmith Recipe Level 24)
- Ice Brand (Goldsmith Recipe Level 25)
- Horn Earrings (Goldsmith Recipe Level 24)
- Toothed Staghorn Staff (Goldsmith Recipe Level 25)
- Horn Necklace (Goldsmith Recipe Level 26)
- Sanguine Horn Staff (Goldsmith Recipe Level 23)
- Worn Twill Trousers (Weaver Recipe Level 100 ****)
- Worn Bell-bottom Twill Trousers (Weaver Recipe Level 100 ****)
- Worn Baggy Twill Trousers (Weaver Recipe Level 100 ****)
In particular, the last three items on that list have an average going rate of 250K gil, which is a pretty significant amount. If you’re looking to farm up some money, it’s not a bad option, provided people actually purchase them. The other ingredients are a bit more expensive, but if you can make them yourself, you’ll amass a profit in no time.
