Alex Eala’s US Open mixed doubles campaign came to an end on Tuesday afternoon.
The Filipina sensation, now ranked inside the WTA top 20 for singles, teamed up with Canadian ATP star Felix Auger-Aliassime for the revamped New York event.
Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina ended Eala and Auger-Aliassime’s dreams of Grand Slam glory, triumphing 4-1, 4-1 in the opening round.

Venus Williams on ‘incredible’ Alex Eala
Venus offered her thoughts on Eala as a player and a person after competing alongside each other at the Canadian Open earlier this month.
“She’s just incredible. Besides the fact of her tennis, she’s an incredible person, well-spoken, and just an impressive young lady. So I like being around those kinds of things. I think we both lift each other up,” Williams said of Eala, as per the inquirer.net.
How high do you think Alexandra Eala’s ceiling is?
“We had the best time playing. We almost played in DC, then we had an amazing chance to play here,”
“I think we played really well. We just fell a little bit short.
“But we were in there in all those games on those deciding points, and just didn’t have the luck today.”
