Taylor Swift can now fight Lionel Messi, John Cena, or even you in a wild fan-made Super Smash Bros game running directly in a web browser.
Smash.fun is a browser port of the original Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 64 that lets players create custom fighters and add them to the classic game.
The site already features more than 1,000 generated fighters, producing matchups that would normally be impossible even by Smash standards.
Its enormous roster includes Donald Trump, Taylor Swift, Lionel Messi, Steve Jobs, John Cena, Jesus Christ, Elon Musk, Hideo Kojima, MrBeast, Snoop Dogg, and The Rock.
Creator Thomas Dimson unveiled the project in a post on X, explaining that it began with his own desire to become a Smash fighter.
“I love Smash 64 but I wish I was in it,” he wrote, before revealing that he had brought himself and over 1,000 others into the game.
How to create yourself as a fighter in Smash.fun
Players can create a fighter by entering a name and uploading a reference photo. The site then generates a low polygon character model based on one of the original game’s 12 fighter skeletons.
According to the project’s open source GitHub page, the process also creates a character select portrait, stock icon, series emblem, and custom announcer call before injecting the fighter into the game.
This means users are not simply adding a photo over an existing character. Their creation is turned into a complete fighter designed to match the visual style of the N64 original.
There is one important requirement. Smash.fun does not provide the game itself, so players must supply a legally obtained Super Smash Bros ROM to begin playing.
The site says the ROM and its assets remain entirely on the player’s device, with nothing uploaded. It also states that no Nintendo assets are included in the project’s source code or hosted online.
Smash.fun is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, which has previously targeted unofficial Smash projects. Modders have even responded by turning a fake Nintendo cease and desist letter into a playable fighter.
The project joins a growing wave of classic games reaching browsers through fan work, including Super Monkey Ball and its sequel and a version of Super Mario 64 playable through YouTube.
