Breanna Stewart’s performance helped Team USA defeat the Czech Republic 105-64 on Monday. The New York Liberty star scored a team-high 19 points, leading the team to a 3-0 record at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. The Americans played better after a narrow 55-52 win over Italy on Sunday.
Six players scored in double digits, which is five more than they did against Italy. Jackie Young was the only player who scored at least 10 points on Sunday. Stewart had an all-around game with seven rebounds, six assists, a steal and a block.
Following the blowout win for Team USA, WNBA fans hailed Stewart online for her strong performance.
“They’re icing Caitlin,” a fan said.

Breanna Stewart Passes Tina Charles in the Scoring List
Stewart also made history for USA Basketball on Monday. She passed former WNBA star Tina Charles on the all-time scoring list. Charles scored 222 points during her time with Team USA, and the Liberty star now leads with 223.
The former Connecticut Sun star spoke about what it feels like to have Stewart pass her on the scoring list.
“Being passed by Stewie is an honor,” Charles said.
“I’m very thankful and very blessed to have worn that USA jersey and to be able to contribute and win.”
The next player ahead of Stewart is one-time WNBA champion Tamika Catchings. She had 232 points for Team USA during her time. Stewie is averaging 10.3 points through three games in the tournament and is the team’s second-leading scorer behind Young, who is averaging 11.3 points.
Breanna Stewart Wanted Team USA to Bounce Back After the Narrow Win Against Italy
Team USA did not have the best shooting performance against Italy. The trio of Breanna Stewart, Caitlin Clark and Kahleah Copper shot 1-for-19 from the field. However, Stewart just wants to move on from it.
“I think that we just really took accountability of what happened yesterday and wanted to make sure that everybody knew today’s a new day,” Stewart said. “There’s an opportunity to really impact the game in a number of ways and this is our last learning opportunity and test before we go forward and we wanted to take full advantage of it.”
Stewart and Team USA will play in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
