Xbox confirmed Forza Horizon 6 will eventually come to PS5. It actually promised the latest entry in its hit racing game would be on PS5 before the end of 2026. It and Playground Games have now confirmed that’s still the case amid worries its exclusivity status had been reconsidered.
There’s Still Room For Forza Horizon 6 On PS5 In 2026
PS5 owners waiting for more Forza to come to their platform had their fears washed away via a new post on the racing series’ blog. “Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability,” a passage towards the end of the post confirms.
Still no firm release date, but effectively a release window with so little of the year left to go. Xbox will need to find a slot in which to place Forza’s PS5 port with not much room left to go around. Not only are September and October packed, but GTA 6 is effectively off limits, with no studio wanting to put their game’s release date anywhere near it.
It’s also incredibly likely that Nintendo will confirm its Ocarina of Time remake will be releasing in November too by the end of today.
Putting Forza On PS5 In December Could Work
If Forza’s PS5 port really is still releasing before the end of 2026, December might be a good spot for it. Sure, the GTA 6 hype train will still be racing ahead at full speed through the end of the year and beyond, but a lot more people are buying new consoles specifically for GTA 6. Those people might want at least one other new game to play, especially after a few weeks of living in Vice City.
Xbox’s radio silence regarding the PS5 version of the new Forza had some fearing the worst. When a PS5 version was promised, Xbox had moved away from console exclusives. It has since shifted back, deciding where to make its games available on a case-by-case basis. In reality, the legality of pulling back on its promised PS5 version likely meant Xbox wouldn’t be able to back out of putting Forza Horizon 6 on its rival’s console even if it wanted to.
It’s probably the one Xbox-owned series that will never go back to being a console exclusive. Forza Horizon 5, the first game in the series to be released on PlayStation consoles, sold millions on PS5. The plan moving forward is almost certainly for future Forza games to be timed exclusives. If you want to play them right away, you’ll need an Xbox. If you’re happy to wait, they’ll come to PS5 eventually.
