Riot Games has shared a VALORANT developer update outlining an experimental game mode, a new automatic rifle and an updated Agent Mastery system. A teaser also showed fragments of a new mode, an unknown automatic rifle, an updated agent progression interface and a round metallic emblem that may be connected to a future ranked reward, according to bo3.gg.
The update includes quality-of-life changes, including access to the Practice Range while players wait in the matchmaking queue. Riot has linked several features to patch 13.06, while available reports provide differing scheduled dates for the Agent Mastery rollout.
What Riot Actually Showed
The new mode is identified as Gauntlet: Glitched, an experimental format in which players create hybrid Robo-Agents by drafting from a randomized pool of abilities. Eight teams of two compete in a tournament-style round robin until one team remains.
Players can upgrade abilities during a match, creating different builds from game to game. Unexpected glitches can alter familiar abilities and encourage experimentation. The teaser’s screen of character portraits and ability icons is consistent with the ability-drafting format described in Riot’s developer update.
Riot says Gauntlet: Glitched will launch in patch 13.06, just ahead of VALORANT Champions. Earlier reporting on the teaser had not confirmed the mode’s name or rules.
A New Rifle, Called Warden
Riot has identified the new automatic rifle as the Warden. It joins the Vandal and Phantom and is designed around a stronger aim-down-sights option, giving players another primary-weapon choice for different playstyles and longer sightlines.
Riot says the rifle’s high damage output makes it particularly effective for holding longer sightlines without fully committing to a sniper rifle. Reporting described the weapon as likely costing 2,900 Credits, with a two-times scope and an 18-round magazine, but those specifications remain unconfirmed. Sage’s Page Hints At A Mastery Overhaul
The updated Sage progression page shows a separate agent level, an experience bar and rewards for continued leveling. Riot says the new Agent Mastery system replaces the existing Agent Gear system and ties progression to both playtime and performance with individual agents.
Players will be able to display progress through customizable Agent IDs and mastery rewards, including portraits, icons, borders and other cosmetics. A separate report says the system also replaces agent contracts and will offer rewards for developing individual characters.
The round metallic emblem shown at the end of the teaser remains unexplained. Community discussion has linked it to a possible ranked reward, but Riot has not confirmed its purpose.
