Mauricio Ruffy once met a barber who played a major role in changing his life and his family’s life, and after interacting with the barber, the now-UFC lightweight contender’s life changed completely.
Ruffy previously revealed that there was a time when his wife was unable to get pregnant. One day, he invited a barber to his home, and the latter told him he could help resolve Ruffy’s wife’s “pregnancy problem”. The barber also asked Ruffy what he was exceptionally good at (fighting) but had failed to turn into a successful career.
The Brazilian also confessed that, early in his MMA career, he would often get injured after fights and had to go under the knife several times. He grew tired of dealing with the constant injuries and prayed to God to take his life. But after meeting the barber who claimed that ‘God had sent him,’ things began to turn around for Ruffy. He and his wife were eventually blessed with two children, and he also earned a UFC contract in the years to come. During a chat with Full Violence, Mauricio Ruffy said:
“My wife couldn’t be a mother. I was living in a hotel. A guy came to my house. I hired a guy to cut my hair. The guy came to my house and said, ‘Hey, where’s your wife?’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ He said God brought me here to heal her.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘She doesn’t have a pregnancy problem?’ I almost fell back. It was a very intimate thing. Just me and her knew about it.”
“Then he said, ‘What about you? What are you so good at but you are not successful?’ I was in bed for three years practically. Every time I would fight, I would break my knee. I would break my hand. Surgery after surgery. I would come to the gym and ask God to bring a car to run me over. I didn’t have the courage to take my own life.”
“I discovered something in the spiritual world… And then he left my house and said, ‘God is going to send a child for you.’ Ten days later, my wife was pregnant…. In one year, God gave us two children.”
