Taylor Townsend is confident that she is the first mother to complete the career Grand Slam after doing so at the US Open.
Playing alongside Katerina Siniakova in New York, she has now won all four doubles Grand Slam titles. The US Open top seeds, Townsend and her Czech counterpart lifted the trophy with a final win over American duo Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger.
Townsend has now opened up on the success and what it means to her, along with the post-title celebrations. Meanwhile, Siniakova is now a double career Grand Slam champion, having also achieved the feat with Barbora Krejcikova.

Taylor Townsend confident she’s the first mother to complete the Career Grand Slam
Townsend was asked by the WTA on X how it feels to have secured the fantastic milestone, to which she replied: “It feels amazing. I’ve always wanted to win the US Open since I was a kid, and so that was more so what was on my mind. I believe I’m the first mom to ever complete the Career Slam, which I think is super cool.”
And when asked if any celebrities messaged her after the title, she said: “Not really. Samuel L. Jackson messaged me, and then that evening I met Spike Lee because he loves tennis, he’s supporting tennis. I saw Josh Hart, but I didn’t know who he was, and so I was like, I’m really sorry. I met Shonda Rhimes. But this was all because I was just hanging out on the blue carpet, taking pictures.”

As ever, many high-profile celebrities headed to Flushing Meadows in Queens to watch the US Open, including Brad Pitt, Anna Wintour, Jalen Brunson and Pierce Brosnan. And they were certainly treated to plenty of high-quality tennis over the two weeks.
Townsend has, however, since suffered a minor setback, having been forced out of the Guadalajara Open after undergoing emergency surgery. She won her singles opener before withdrawing in Mexico, where her fellow American Iva Jovic has defended her Guadalajara Open title.
Townsend also played singles at the US Open, enjoying an impressive run before falling to top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the round of 16. She also played mixed doubles with Alexander Zverev during Fan Week, but they lost their opener to Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli.
