Former WWE wrestler Chad Wicks, known to SmackDown viewers as Chad Dick, was released from the Cerro Gordo County Jail in Iowa on September 30 after posting a $1,501.51 cash bond. He had been booked the previous evening in connection with four alleged traffic violations.
His jail intake was marked “Detox,” but the allegations listed in reports do not include an impaired-driving charge. Wicks, 48, was taken into custody at approximately 6:19 p.m. local time on September 29.

The reported allegations are an unsafe turn or failure to signal, improper rear lamps, failure to provide proof of financial liability, and driving while his license was denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked. The jail record was described as listing four separate cash-only bonds that added up to $1,501.51. He was released at 12:22 p.m. local time the next day after posting the bond, according to an update published by eWrestlingNews. That put his time in custody at roughly 18 hours.
The “Detox” designation has drawn attention. It was reported as an intake designation; the listed allegations concern traffic and licensing.
For anyone whose memory of mid-2000s SmackDown needs a nudge, Wicks was one half of The Dicks with John “Tank” Toland, who appeared on WWE television as James Dick. Before the name change, the pair worked together in Ohio Valley Wrestling as the Blonde Bombers. They won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship in April 2005, defeating Matt Cappotelli and Johnny Jeter. The duo arrived on SmackDown in October 2005 and spent much of their WWE run appearing on Velocity.
Their television outings included a win over Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich in November. In February 2006, they faced The Boogeyman in a handicap match shortly before WWE released both men. Their WWE stint was brief, but the team name has proved hard to forget. Wicks continued wrestling after his WWE release and retired in 2007. For now, the confirmed development in the Iowa case is his release on bond.
