The FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 will run from 31 May to 20 June 2027, and the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2027 follows from 22 November to 12 December 2027. With Perfect World’s announcement on 15 September, both of the confirmed 2027 Counter-Strike 2 Majors are now locked in, and neither one is happening in Europe.
That closes out a run of three straight announced Majors that all skip the continent that has essentially owned the tournament’s history. PGL Major Singapore 2026, Buenos Aires and Shanghai are the three events confirmed after IEM Cologne 2026, which currently stands as the last announced European Major on the books. No 2028 host has been named yet – Liquipedia lists two placeholder dates for that year, both flagged unconfirmed with the host city listed as TBD.
Two Majors, Two Continents, Zero Europe
FiReSPORTS takes the first 2027 Major to Argentina, marking the first Major ever staged in the country. Stages 1 through 3 are set for La Usina del Arte, with playoffs moving to the Movistar Arena.
Perfect World then closes the year in Shanghai, a city that already knows the drill – it hosted the 2024 edition. Both events carry a $1.25 million prize pool and the standard 32-team field, and per the Major supplemental rulebook, both will run the same three-Swiss-stage-into-eight-team-playoff structure that Counter-Strike’s expanding Asian footprint has already made familiar. Perfect World has not yet announced Shanghai’s playoff window or venue; the 2024 edition split its Swiss stages at the Shanghai World Expo centre before moving playoffs to the Oriental Sports Center.
