Roger Goodell is apparently not yet done expanding the NFL globally, but fans are growing tired of it.
Last month, the league visited the other side of the Pacific for the first time when the San Francisco 49ers upset the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. And during a conversation on Friday’s episode of NFL Daily in Paris, France ahead of Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers, Goodell teased Tokyo as a possible new venue within the next two seasons:
Thanks for the submission!
“It’s coming at some point in the near future.”

“On a Friday morning at 10:30 (a.m.), to have 100,000 people in the stadium, it was just an incredible feeling for us. I think it’s opened up new opportunities for us. The travel is something we think we can manage and do it without impacting negatively on the teams.”
Fans tore into him and his notions, however:
“Roger Goodell would sell the NFL to China if the price was right. So sick of this international expansion,” one snarled.
“There should be 0 international games. Not more,” another maintained.
“NFLPA needs to start pushing back on these international games; these are getting absurd,” one hoped.
“Deport Roger Goodell at this point, to hell with this greedy p****,” another demanded.
“This guy needs to be stopped,” one urged.
“Terrible idea, just like the Australia game, unless they get at least a week to recover after they fly home,” another warned.

Roger Goodell gets candid on flag football, media partnerships
In the same conversation, Roger Goodell shared his thoughts on how more people could be encouraged to take up flag football:
“As a father of two girls, to see young women playing our sport, it’s even more rewarding because … it gives you that ability to sort of understand yourself a little better. I think it’s the future of the sport. … It’s accessible, and it’s a way for kids to really, truly understand (more) about this game, but more importantly, themselves.”
He also stressed the importance of the NFL’s partnerships with international media companies:
“Even in the States, the media partners are the ones who give you the greatest access to the fans. You get to learn a lot more about the game, the players, the strategy, what’s happening in the league. So, media partnerships are really critical to us, and we look for the best media partners, as many as we can.”
After Sunday, the NFL will have three more international games.
