Myles Garrett will be carrying a revised contract in his first season outside Cleveland.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles Rams were announced to have reworked the star edge rusher’s contract. Initially, he was on the last year of a five-year, $125-million extension that he signed in 2020, with another four-year, $160-million extension to commence in 2027.

Now, however, his contract is worth $204 million over five years. Besides boosting his 2026 pay from $31.5 million to approximately $37 million, the Rams are also reworking bonuses that are attached to the contract.

During his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Garrett made his intentions clear:
“Since the very beginning, it’s always been about winning. … And to have an opportunity to do that immediately? That was the opportunity that was too difficult to pass up. … I see a position to solidify myself here as well among the very greats.”
He continued:
“That did play into the decision as well, knowing I have the ability, late-game, to pin my ears back, not just because we need a play to be made, but because we have the lead and it’s obvious passing downs, being able to make those game-changing plays to win the game for us, those are things that appealed to me.”

Alex Wright ready to step into Myles Garrett’s leadership role for Browns defense
Back in Cleveland, one of Myles Garrett’s most prominent teammates is stepping into a role he did not foresee.
A 2022 third-round pick by the Browns out of UAB, Alex Wright was a rotational piece in his first three seasons. 2025 marked the first time he started over half the games he played, nine of 14 to be exact.
That expanded usage, combined with a three-year, $33-million extension that he signed in November, makes him an ideal fit to be the new leader of a line that now also has Jared Verse. During his media availability on Thursday, he said:
“Somebody gotta take control, like somebody has to take charge. So, just trying to step into that role. It just don’t have to be me, it could be all of us. But I’m taking on that ownership, that just because (Garrett)’s gone, that doesn’t mean the standard that he set since he’s been here, since he was a rookie, is going to change.”
The Browns conclude their offseason/spring training program with next week’s mandatory minicamp.
