Alexander Zverev has enjoyed the most successful period of his career over the past two months.
The German superstar, once described as the best player to have never won a major tournament, finally captured a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros in June.
He then reached the Wimbledon final for the first time, before losing to world number one Jannik Sinner.

Zverev’s recent form brings one particular question to the fore: is the German now on the same level as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner?
Patrick Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams, has answered that question in his latest social media post.

“Zverev is on the right path,” Mouratoglou, who recently began coaching Stefanos Tsitsipas, said in an Instagram post.
“But is he there? I don’t think so, not yet.
“It’s a big milestone for him to win his first Grand Slam and be in the final of the next one, especially clay and grass,” Mouratoglou continued. “He’s definitely reached another level.
“Is he at the level of Alcaraz and Sinner yet? I don’t think so.
“And even though he played some of his best tennis in the final, and Sinner was, I think, not at his best, he still didn’t win it.”
Zverev performed superbly in the Wimbledon final, playing aggressively off both wings and serving 17 aces.
However, his efforts were not enough to defeat Jannik Sinner, losing 7-6, 6-7, 3-6, 4-6 on Wimbledon Centre Court.
Zverev has now lost 10 consecutive matches against Sinner.
His last victory against the Italian came at the 2023 US Open.

“For him to be able to play aggressively with consistency and efficiency, he has to show that he is able to do this over and over again until it becomes second nature,” Mouratoglou said of Zverev.
“Otherwise… for example, the US swing and he knows he’s going to beat those guys because he has margin.
“[If] he starts to control again from the baseline and not be so aggressive, it will show that he didn’t really make the step up.
“He needs to practice this every single match, which he didn’t do yet.”

Zverev is scheduled to play his next event in Toronto, Canada.
All the way back in 2017, Zverev won his second Masters 1000 title at the event.
The big-serving German, seeded fourth, stunned Roger Federer in the final, winning 6-3, 6-4.
It was only Federer’s third loss in 38 matches.
By triumphing in Montreal, Zverev had won two Masters titles in a row.
The German won his first Masters title at the 2017 Italian Open.
“Winning two Masters 1000 titles in the same year is something amazing,” said Zverev after triumphing in Canada.
“I played well winning Washington and here. It’s something amazing, back-to-back weeks. I feel great. I feel like I’m playing some of the best tennis of my life.”
Since 2017, Zverev has recorded three quarter-final appearances and one third round appearance.
Last year, he reached the semi-finals before losing to Karen Khachanov.
