Would it really be a major championship without some Bryson DeChambeau club talk?

Well, at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club ahead of the 2026 U.S. Open, DeChambeau was out Monday testing a new TaylorMade prototype driver that had just hit the USGA conforming list, just a few hours earlier.

DeChambeau, a two-time winner of the U.S. Open and who last won his national open in 2024 at Pinehurst, was spotted testing out the TaylorMade Qi4D Proto 200+ in Southampton, New York.

While DeChambeau is yet to comment on the new club, GolfWRX got the first look at the new 7-degree driver, set lower and likely closer to the loft of his old Krank Formula Fire Pro driver, which he played at 6 degrees. Two options were added to the Conforming List on Monday and DeChambeau is using the two-weight port version on the heel and toe of the club (both 10 grams), not the second head, which featured a third rear-weight.

Taking a closer look at the head, the driver’s face has significant curvature, part of the bulge-and-roll technology that DeChambeau has used on most of his clubs, and more than a traditional Qi4D model.

With the prototype big stick, DeChambeau is also using the newly released Project X Titan Black 70-gram TX shaft, rather than the Project X Prototype D70.

DeChambeau hinted earlier in the year that he was in the process of switching up his setup, telling media at the Masters that “it’s my own personal clubs I’m building.” He went on to play the first major of the season with a 1-of-1 5-iron he designed and 3D-printed himself.

Check out all the photos of DeChambeau’s new driver here in the GolfWRX forum.
