An Australian snake catcher was called to a resident’s home to remove a large python, and accidentally found a huge spider in the same room.
Stuart McKenzie, operating as part of Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, was called to a home in Queensland, Australia after someone reported a 7-foot snake in one of the bedrooms.
The resident locked the door until the snake catchers arrived, at which point they entered the bedroom in search of the snake. Inside, they came across more than what they had anticipated.
They documented the whole process on video
Immediately, before finding the snake, they found a Giant Huntsman spider on the wall. McKenzie said that it was one of the biggest he had ever seen. They can grow to have a leg span of up to 12 inches.
Then, they turned around to see the snake in question sat atop a piece of furniture. It turned out to be a carpet python. McKenzie used a specialist hook, and later his bare hands, to wrangle the snake, while he improvised with his hat in order to remove the spider.
He released the spider outside the home by allowing it to crawl from his hat onto a leaf. The snake, however, was transported to a specific wooded area where it was then released back into the wild.
