The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly banned India Under-19 cricketer Rohit Yadav for age fraud. The leg-spinner was part of the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming home series against Australia Under-19, beginning on September 18.
According to Sportstar, the BCCI banned Yadav for two years with immediate effect due to discrepancies in his age record. All the affiliated state boards have already been informed about the ban.
The report suggested that the discrepancies were found in Yadav’s Aadhaar details during an age-verification exercise. The youngster’s date of birth was recorded as July 7, 2007, when he registered with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in 2014.
However, his year of birth was later changed to 2006 in an Aadhaar update in 2017. There was yet another change in 2021, with his birth year updated to 2009. The selectors are expected to name Yadav’s replacement for the upcoming series following the development.

Rohit Yadav was part of the India Under-19 squad that toured Sri Lanka in July. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker of the two-match Youth Test series, despite not playing in the opening game.
The spinner got a chance in the second contest and finished with six wickets across two innings. His four-wicket haul in the fourth innings helped his team bowl out Sri Lanka Under-19 for 260 and claim a huge 211-run victory. India won the red-ball series 1-0, while Sri Lanka secured a 2-1 win in the white-ball games.
Meanwhile, India Under-19 will play three unofficial ODIs and two Youth Tests against Australia Under-19. Here’s the schedule for the series:
