Source of Corruption is the fifth Grim Dawn quest in the Fangs of Asterkarn DLC, and it can be incredibly frustrating if you don’t read the quest thoroughly. The High Chieftain has tasked you with removing some of the rituals that the Bloodbound are performing in the Dread Wastes, and that’s a pretty long walk away. If you don’t read the quest right you might think it’s somewhere else entirely.
Thankfully, we bumbled our way through these zones and found the objectives, and the Dread Wastes, so you shouldn’t have to. If you want to know exactly where you’re going in Grim Dawn’s Source of Corruption quest, here’s what you need to know and do.
Complete Source of Corruption walkthrough for Grim Dawn’s Fangs of Asterkarn DLC
In Grim Dawn’s Source of Corruption quest, you’re going to need to the Dread Wastes, far beyond Ullo’s Spring. The easiest place to start is Guardian’s Sorrow, where you just completed the last quest, Bloody Sins. From there you’ll head northwest, over the bridge, and into Ullo’s Springs.
Quest objectives
- Seal the northern Chthonic Wound.
- Seal the eastern Chthonic Wound.
- Seal the southern Chthonic Wound.
- Speak to High Chieftain in Kurnhold.
When you’re in Ullo’s Springs, head north through the zone, and eventually you’ll see a second fast travel rift. That’s how you know you’re on the right path. This will lead you west to the Ruins of Utak Kunar. There’s a path you can follow that will lead up north into the snow, and will be a nice, smooth walk right to the Dread Wastes.
You can see that route on the image above. If you follow the path, it take you where you need to go. It’s a short run from the snow, around the Ruins of Utak Kunar, and right into the Dread Wastes. While you’re here, you need to seal the northern, eastern, and southern Chthonic Wounds. This entails just defeating some Bloodbound Ritualists. The first one we hit was the southern one.
Once you’re in the zone, you can just start traveling west and then south. The image above has the locations of the southern, eastern, and northern Chthonic Wounds on it, for easy reference, and the video shows the route we took to get there. To get to the eastern wound, from the start of this area, you just run north and then take the first east and follow the path around.
The northern one is right next to this zone’s second fast travel rift. Just a bit further north will be Tamarog, the Black Citadel, and that’s where the third wound is. Just slay the enemies at all three locations and return to the High Chieftain.
She’ll reveal she’s been less than honest, but knows now she can trust you. Completing this quest will give you XP, +250 Kurn Reputation, and 5x Ashes of Awakening. It also begins the next quest in Grim Dawn’s Fangs of Asterkern DLC, Ritual of Cleansing.
